Portland’s Rally for Migrant Rights

I joined the crowd of 2,000 at Portland’s city hall last Saturday, June 30th, to support migrant rights, which means family reunification and the end of indefinite detentions and especially the end of ICE.  I was encouraged by the large crowds, especially the numbers of young families. I find myself wondering what more we can do than stage rallies.  How do we keep up the pressure?  Can we get Congress to be more vocal?  Below are two rally photos showcasing older women.

These women met at the rally and look like old friends–great example of the ease with which women connect!

More London Photos

On a lighter note, here are two photos from my recent trip to London.  The magnificent purple lavender is from a border at the Tower of London, a horrible tourist destination, but one I was forced into as a member of a family trip.  The second photo is from a costume exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum; these clothes are from the 1930’s. I would happily welcome any or all of them into my wardrobe!

Serena Williams

On the 4th of July I watched Serena win her first Wimbledon set and look forward to watching her play in the second round.  She’s still a phenomenon at 36!  Go Serena!

Aging’s Aches and Pains

A big downside of aging for me is managing my arthritis.  So far I’ve avoided surgery, thanks to Pilates and Rolfing, but it’s now commonplace for me to have morning stiffness and daily reminders of my creaky joints. I feel like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, searching for oil to lubricate my joints and give them a new youthful bounce. Sigh!

My City Garden

I have a small garden plot in front of my townhouse.  This year the garden is very happy.  I love all its colors and variety of flowers.
