Cosby is Nailed, Season 2 of A Hand Maid’s Tale, Gaza & More!

Justice is Served!

Like women across the country I celebrated yesterday’s guilty verdict for Bill Cosby.  One news story claimed he assaulted over 62 women!  Let’s hope this verdict sends an alarm to other perpetrators and would-be perpetrators. Next let’s pray that before too long the Orange Monster pays for his sexual assaults!

A Hand Maid’s Tale, Season 2

This week I watched the first two installments of the new season of “A Hand Maid’s Tale.”  It’s based in a theocracy and dystopian society where women are forced to bear children for childless couples and sentenced to hard labor for speaking out. If Trump is impeached and Pence takes over, we will inch that much closer to the country of “A Hand Maid’s Tale.”

Spring is Finally Here!

Now that the daytime highs have been consistently in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s, winter has been forever banished for another year. I boldly put away my snow boots and heavy outer wear, putting winter on notice to stay away until December!

Protesting in Support of Gaza

This is the fourth consecutive week that people in Gaza have been peacefully protesting the illegal Israeli occupation of their land. Israel has aggressively met their protests with gunfire, killing over 40, including women and children and injuring 1000’s more.  These flagrant killings have incensed the global community, encouraging protests in support of Gaza.  I will join today’s noontime protest in downtown Portland.

The New National Museum for Peace and Justice

This Montgomery, Alabama museum opened this week.  It pays homage to the brutal lynchings of 4,000 African Americans that occurred from 1877 to 1950.  You can be sure that the actual number was much higher. Hopefully this museum will be a major educational tool for all white folks, both children and adults.  The horrific torture of slaves is well documented and helps to explain why white supremacy continues and why we are such a violent culture. I would like to try to find a way to take my grandchildren to the Museum for Peace and Justice.

Dreaming of Summer and My Cottage

My little fixer-upper cottage about an hour and a half  North of Portland is coming along.  It has happy new windows and is anticipating a screened-in porch.  It will be a haven for friends and family and for yours truly.
