Dr. Blasey-Ford, Signs of Fall, Fahrenheit 11/9 & More!

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford—Shero!

What a horrible, nightmarish week for women!  The misogynist Judiciary Committee is trying to railroad Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to be the next Supreme Court Justice.  They’re making it very difficult for Dr. Ford who has charged Kavanaugh with sexually attacking her when both were teens.  To think that she is being denied even less respect than Anita Hill was in 1991 is unconscionable!  All Dr. Ford wants is for the FBI to investigate her claims before she testifies.  It’s not looking good for the future of Roe. V. Wade or for Susan Collins, who is defending Kavanaugh!

Fall Arrives!

One day we were complaining about the heat and humidity and the next day we’re donning sweaters!  I welcome signs of fall, noticing newly planted mums in neighbors’ gardens, the leaves turning and kids walking back and forth to school with their bulging backpacks.

A Memorable Photography Show

Recently I took in the special exhibit of turn-of-the-century photographer, Clarence H. White at the Portland Museum of Art. His pictures are deeply romantic. Here’s one I especially like titled “The Readers.”

Fahrenheit  11/9

This is the title of Michael Moore’s new film, which opens today.  I will see it this weekend, curious to take in Moore’s skewering of Trump and our exceedingly corrupt, mean-spirited government.

The Magic of Women’s Groups

I’m always amazed and gratified by the effortless way women bond.  I experienced these dynamics this week teaching my first class in an eight week series called, “Women and Aging.”  The women in my class readily shared their life stories and supported one another when their stories echoed a sad note.  If only women could rule the world!  Empathy is our middle name.
