Next Tuesday we will elect a new President. This election year, a significant number of people are rejecting the two major party’s candidates, turning to Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party. This week’s WOW blog features Stein supporters who describe why she is their choice.
I am voting for #SteinWare2024 as a way of signaling my opposition to the Biden Administration’s endless support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza and war against Lebanon.
Kamala Harris has served loyally in this administration since January 2021 and will continue to support Israel’s insane assaults on humanity, the UN, and international law. Her rhetorical flourishes about Palestinians’ “right to dignity, security, freedom and self-determination” at the DNC and campaign rallies mean nothing.

I’m ranking Dr. Stein first because she’s the only candidate that supports a slew of policy positions of utmost importance for moving the country forward. Policies such as: universal health care, public housing and housing as a human right, $25 minimum wage indexed to inflation and productivity, a vast reduction in the defense budget, universally free higher education, and so much more.
Even more importantly, she is the only US presidential candidate who rightly condemns the moral abomination that is the US-backed, Israel-executed genocide in Gaza — and now beyond into Lebanon and the West Bank. No candidate who abides that atrocity will ever get my vote.

The candidate that most closely aligns with me ethically is Green Party’s Jill Stein. As a former Democrat, it is important to me that my Green vote is counted and that the Democratic Party is aware they have lost my vote because of their bad policy. They did not earn my vote and are not entitled to it, just because of That Fool of a republican nominee. I am anti-war. It is an absolute for me as a voter that I do not enable war mongers with my vote.

I am 50 years old and the youngest of eight children. My mother, who is now 81, was married twice; her first husband passed from cancer and her second husband, my father, left when I was just a few years old. When I was very little all of us were removed from the home on a complaint of neglect and were all returned within a year. We never had money and always struggled.
As a young adult I turned to drugs, alcohol and crime. I’m glad to say that I am 10+ years free of drugs. I (and my family) have a lifetime of experience with the oppressive, inhumane and violent systems that are killing people. I am tired of broken promise after broken promise and the continuation of policies that have not worked and exacerbated the plight of poor, disabled and marginalized folks. It is way past time for real change and that is why I am voting for Jill Stein and Butch Ware!

Jill Stein is a physician; in her professional years and now as leader of the re-awakening that is the Green Party, she listens carefully, observes thoughtfully, offers meaningful solutions.
She implores us:
listen to millions worldwide who understand the spiraling impacts of a 3.6-degree centigrade temperature rise on the Earth;
to voiceless billions watching dreams fade into an uncertain, dangerous future; to truly see the horrors of genocide in Palestine, of exploding wars fought for resources and ideology in the Middle East and beyond, of the threats of thermonuclear war.
Three people are running for President.
One, a grifter selling $400 sneakers, convicted felon, vindictive snake oil salesman selling fear, anger and hatred to millions looking for a quick fix.
Another, former prosecutor, ill-prepared, vacuous politician pushed into the spotlight by back room, self-interested power brokers.
Dr Stein is the third.
She shows us the broken political system; urges us to commit to compassionate change at home and abroad; and to build a nation and world whose soul is people, planet, peace.
